Hughes and his good friend, fabricator Galen Frick, opted to keep the interior layout as stock-looking as possible. They created an engine-turned billet dash insert filled with Stewart-Warner gauges, built their own mechanical shift mechanism to control the Dodge pickup 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, and modified a Corvette steering wheel to fit the custom-built steering column.
