About Mark McCormick

Wichita native Mark E. McCormick joined The Eagle staff in 1995 as a reporter for the newsroom's Relationships team, which covered race, gender, youth and social issues. He moved to the Communities team, where he later became editor of the Neighbors section. From there, he became news editor and Enterprise Team leader, assembling the daily news budget, running news meetings and assigning breaking news stories. In 2001, Mark took over the newsroom's Crime and Safety Team, which covered the police, fire and sheriff's departments. In 2004, he was named Metro columnist following the retirement of columnist Bob Getz, writing columns of local interest on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
