A GOOD DEAL
Abuelo's, the Mexican restaurant at 1413 N. Waterfront Parkway, is once again helping people get into the gift-giving spirit with its annual holiday gift card promotion. The promotion, now under way, gives guests who purchase $50 of Abuelo's gift cards a gift of their own -- a $10 Abuelo's voucher to use at a later date (from Jan. 1 to March 31 of next year). The promotion runs through Dec. 31.

Cheap Firkin lunches
The Firkin and Bull, the brew-pub and restaurant at NewMarket Square at 21st and Maize, has recently started offering several lower-priced, smaller-serving lunch specials. Among the options on the all-$5.95 menu are a cottage pie served with mixed greens, English-style bangers, beans and mash and a quarter chicken with fries. The specials are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
